A man who feels called by God to Marist religious life would be eligible to begin DISCERNMENT after meeting with the Vocation Director. This phase of our Vocation Process is primarily for the college graduate who is ready to process his call. He would be in DISCERNMENT for at least one year with the Vocation Director on a regular basis. A flexible yet focused plan of discernment would be established which includes community, ministry and retreat opportunities with the Marist Brothers. Once DISCERNMENT has begun, the discerner would be expected to have a Spiritual Director as another form of support. During this time, the discerner and the Vocation Director will mutually arrive at a decision regarding his potential application to the Initial Formation Program.
During the stage of DISCERNMENT, orientation retreats will be required of a discerner before he applies to the Initial Formation Program called "VIDEAMUS" - Latin for "LET US SEE". These experiences invite discerners to continue their reflection on our Marist charism and Marist ministry.
