Initial Formation Program
Postulancy (Pre-Novitiate)
The first stage of the Formation Program is a six-month experience offering the postulant an opportunity for prayer, study, community living and ongoing discussions about their faith journey. Throughout this experience, the postulant discerns whether to continue his formal preparation to become a Marist Brother.

Novitiate (Deepening Marist life)
The Novitiate is an 18-month opportunity to deepen your relationship with God through prayer and meditation. Novices study the life of St. Marcellin Champagnat, the history and constitutions of the Marist Brothers and their apostolic spirituality. Novices also participate in an Intercommunity Novitiate program with novices from other congregations. At the end of the Novitiate, the novice may apply to take temporary vows of poverty, chastity and obedience for a period of one year.

Marist Novices are alive and well around the Marist world and are presently receiving formation in 16 different Marist Novitiates. They total 150 novices worldwide!
